39 Weeks

Still pregnant!

Here's this week's update....perhaps the last?

How far along? 39 weeks, 1 day.

Total weight gain: A little over 21 pounds.

How big is baby? About 7 pounds.

Sleep: The best sleep I get is during the day when I take a nap. At night I am either full of thoughts and excitement, waking up to use the bathroom, dreaming strange dreams, or I can't get comfortable.

Best moment of the week: The best thing to happen this week was the wonderful birth course that Ramon and I attended. It definitely exceeded anything we may have expected. Such a wonderful bonding experience with one another, focusing on this final part of the journey so intensely; It was the perfect 'ending' to the pregnancy experience, and we both feel prepared (and excited) about the birth.

Movement: He's still kicking and wiggling around like a champ.

Food cravings: Anything with butter and salt: popcorn, toast, young potatoes...

Belly Button: Flat.

Stretch marks: Inner thighs, breasts, and tiny ones on my hips.

Labor Signs: Have been experiencing bouts of false labor at night, mainly in my lower back; a kind of pulsating pain. Also have a lot of braxton hicks contractions.

What I miss: Honestly I'm not thinking about what I miss or about the past....much too concentrated on the future!

What I'm looking forward to: Sharing the incredible experience of labor and birth with my husband, and meeting our son.

Milestone: We're one week away from Rafael's due date. Will he come early? Late? Right on his due date? No way of telling! Though, since today is the full Harvest Moon, I am especially curious if I will go into labor today...

  1. So beautiful Dawn. Can't add anything really, except that I'm thinking about you many times, every day....wondering along with you whether today (or night) is the one. Love love love to you & Ramon, sweetie xoxo

  2. Dawn, I moved to NYC a few weeks ago for grad school and every now and then when I'm in the thick of my studies my heart skips a beat when you cross my mind as I question whether or not you've gone into labor yet! "Oh my goodness, did she already have the baby? Could she STILL be pregnant?!" I'm so glad to hear that you're doing well and enjoying these last days you have left with that little guy in your belly.

  9. Almost thought you had already gone as we hadn't heard anything from you...we're all on tender hooks! Next time you write he'll be here!!!xxx

  10. Hi Dawn, I thought maybe Rafael had arrived over the weekend as you hadn't been around.
    Not long now!
There was the strangest coincidence today - I was looking on Jamie Oliver's website for a Thai salad dressing recipe (I had the most gorgeous salad at a Thai restaurant in Chester and was looking to copy it at home), and whose recipe should I see on the screen but yours (unless someone else has exactly the same name)! How much of a coincidence is that!

  11. Such an exciting post, I find myself looking out for you now on here and Pinterest - just in case you might be missing and welcoming your little one instead! All the best of luck for the next week and if this gorgeous full-moon, which is sitting high the sky here tonight, brings your little one.

  12. I'm so excited for you! Wishing you all of the best in the days and weeks ahead. :)

  13. Not long to go :) so excited for you!

  14. Dawn,
I can hardly wait....I think it's Wednesday, the 14th.....three of the tweetlettes are meeting that's a joining of forces and all of this thinking about you has got to have Rafi wiggling about vigorously!!! I can't wait!!

  15. Dan: That's so funny! Yes, I used to be on every day. Love that community!

the REAL girl: What an interesting theory! We'll see if it pans out...
