Yesterday I was told by two different people that I shouldn't be taking my morning walks in the woods alone anymore. They convinced me with the scenario of my water breaking and being trapped waiting to be rescued, since you aren't supposed to walk once your water breaks; the danger of the cord wrapping around the baby's neck when he slips down is too big.
So from now on, I'll be taking walks around town with the dogs. Maybe it's a good thing....maybe I'll be forced to take more creative pictures and share more of village life with you all.
I loved reading all your guesses on the arrival date of our little boy. I wrote them all down and am so curious to see if any of you are right! (Was very happy that you all guessed him coming earlier rather than later.)
Hope you enjoyed my September favorites!
It's such an exciting time....

  1. I loved this posting!
You have included some of my favourite things, such as the dress (I'm sure it'll fit you just fine), the earrings (so elegant), the mushrooms and both chocolate devils!!!
    Have a wonderful day!

  2. Your neighborhood is lovely! Looks cozy and welcoming with all the trees. Good idea not to take walks alone so far into your pregnancy.

I had never heard that you shouldn't walk after your water breaks. My Mom "walked us out", as she says, to speed up her labor. But not a good thing to do in the woods by yourself!:)

Hope you have a cool and relaxing weekend,
    Elise

  3. I love a post like this one, filled with links to send me off to lovely destinations online.

I am in love with the new Hush clothing collection and had thought that my post-pregnancy body maybe ok in some of their latest clothes and I adore long winter farm lip balms, although I have never tried that particular flavour before. Must try it next time.

Happy September Dawn, can't wait to see how it turns out!

  5. Dawn,

What a lovely post! Very good idea not to walk in the woods for now! This is such a great idea..all the photos you have found! Each tells s own story!

(BTW I didn't copy your mushroom idea for my header...smile...course my photo is nothing like yours! Mine of course was shot out the car window...smile Photos on the go...as I say! However, yours is exquisite!)

    Stay well....& blessings...

  6. I love this post, full of the autumnal joys to come. Can I add my guess of September 20th as Baby Raffael's birthday? The twentieth day seems to me to be a good day to be born on!

  7. I loved this post, filled with images of autumnal pleasures. September is one of my favorite months also, as it leads into fall and all the comforts of hearth and home. Have a wonderful weekend.

  8. Dear Dawn,

Your post is full of fall coziness! I just ran after Graham (who's crawling now!) cautioning, "hot, hot, hot" as he made his way to our electric baseboards - we turned our heat on this week.

Happy all things warm, cozy and snuggly xo

  9. Happy September Dawn!

Well since today is my birthday... I pick today for your baby's arrival!

Don't be worried about walking after your water breaks. I had home births with my four boys and my midwife had me walking throughout labor; inside the house, outside the house, etc.

There's nothing particularly different about labor after your water breaks. Your body continues producing fluid; there's no such thing as a 'dry birth'. I labor assisted for a woman who labored for days after her water broke with no ill effects to mother or baby.

Not to say that you necessarily want to walk alone in the woods at present!

    Best wishes,

    Annie Dru

  11. Always enjoy your pictures of nature, think you live in such a beautiful place. Think it's a very good idea to stay close to home now that you are so close to Raffi's birthday. Would love to see photos of your town. Can't believe your leaves are turning already, just fantastic!
Hope you are feeling well in these last days of pregnancy. So excited for you and your family. Such a happy time!

  12. Gorgeous post Dawn, I love the cookies, the brown transfer ware with gingerbread, the baby blanket, and especially the dress! Where did you find it? That's something you could dress up or down and wear almost anywhere. I love the scarf too.
I'll look forward to the next woodland post when you will have Rafael with you!!
    Big hugs

  13. Beautiful!

Good thing I never knew that one should not walk after the water breaks!
They even sent me walking up and down the hospital halls when my babies took so long to appear.

  15. Hi Dan! I found that dress/outfit on Pinterest, but unfortunately it didn't include a link, so I don't know which company it's from.

I did find two dresses very similar to that one at H&M for a very reasonable price.
