Yesterday I was talking with my mother and aunt about sweets. My mother could do without, she says. That's incredible to me! I LOVE treats. When I've cleaned my home, walked the dog twice, done the grocery shopping, ironed, emptied and filled the dishwasher, and stuffed another load of laundry into the machine, I love nothing more than to select something tasty from my stash, sit in an overstuffed chair with Kiki, and enjoy my reward. And on the weekend, when my husband is finally home, we like to cozy into the plump couch, cuddle up under a blanket, put in a film, and snack on sweets.
When I saw this vintage ad, I could hardly believe it was real; "The crave for candy is a call for energy!" "Candys dandy, keep it handy!" "Candy is a delicious food!" Those were some times....

I would love to hear about your favorite treats. Do you have a stash? Do you like to make your own? Do you tend to reward or comfort yourself with sweets as I do? Do you give sweets as gifts? Could you live without them?
Oh my, how I love sweets, especially candy. I'd never turn down a piece of pie or cake, but candy is my favorite. My favorite candy bar is a Payday (carmel in the center, surrounded by peanuts). I also love peanut patties; I love the salty sweet combination.

I have such a sweet tooth it's not even funny! My favourites are chocolate : York Peppermint Patties and Reeses Pieces Peanut Butter Cups....and I usually keep some kind a sweet around to reward myslef. I also like to make home made pies and sometimes cupcakes.

ReplyDeleteOh, I have SUCH a sweet tooth. I love to bake cookies, cakes, and brownies (you may have noticed) and "test" the batter throughout the process. Once they're done, I have to send them to people-- neighbors, my husbands office, etc.-- because i would eat them ALL. ANd, my husband and I both have a weakness for ice cream, even in the dead of winter.
ReplyDeleteOh, sweetsss! They're so yummy! My aunt prepared cupcakes during Halloween in Chicago, too. Though maintaining her new porcelain veneers is paired with a lot of precautions in eating sticky and colored food. Hehe! My fave treat would be apple pie. Do you have any recipe for more yummy treats?
