Dining on Cape Cod...Yum!

Needless to say, my husband and I ate way waaay too much on our vacation. I have the added pounds to prove it. But it was well worth it. So much fun dining out every day! No meal planning and no dishes. There were a few disappointments along the way, but for the most part we dined on delicious food, ranging from diner to fine dining.

At The Quarterdeck, I ate the best cheeseburger of my life. Ramon ate a tasty lobster roll.

Osteria La Civetta had northern Italian cuisine. Ramon loved his grilled scallops, I was less enthusiastic about my spaghetti, even though it was handmade. But we both agreed that their warm, crusty bread and olive tapenad were really mouthwatering.

At the beautiful bed & breakfast where we stayed, Inn On The Sound, Howard, one of the owners, serves the guests fresh and creative breakfasts each morning. You actually wake up to the yummy smells of his meals, wafting up to greet you. Isn't this a beautiful creation?

Oysters in the half shell at 'Bleu' in Mashpee. Ramon loved 'em!

We stopped at one of my favorite stores of all time, Williams-Sonoma, where I almost felt like crying because everything was so amazingly beautiful, especially at this time of year where the theme surrounds fall and pumpkins. Their packaging made me swoon! I wanted to bring everything home with me. At the cash register they offered samples of this spiced pumpkin seed brittle. It was sooo good! A bag costs about 10 dollars, so I decided against it (expensive empty calories are the worst kind), but I can still remember that glorious crunch and sweet caramel taste!

During a day trip to Boston, we stopped for lunch at a wonderful restaurant called Papa Razzi. Here you can see the thick slice of cheesecake...

...and an earth-shattering brownie sundae with caramel sauce. Out-of-this-world-and-worth-every-calorie good!

Their pizza with tomatoes, artichoke, bits of tomato pesto, and mozarella was also really tasty.

Here's another of Howard's very original and delicious creations; savory cornmeal waffles with salsa, guacamole, and poached eggs.

The Black Dog Tavern is a Martha's Vineyard classic. Situated directly on the water among boats and docks, it's a no-nonsense pub-like restaurant with a nice simple menu. I had the baby spinach salad with blackened chicken. Hit the spot.

'Eat Heavy.' Yep. That was the epicurial motto of our trip.

That used to be owned by our very dear friend Joe Hall.Susie Branch's partner/boyfriend. I know Joe is on The Vineyard right now. He started a restaurant here in San Luis Obispo, CA that is right across the street from where we live....talk about super small world.....
