Cabin Fever

After a strangely mild beginning to winter, we've suddenly been hit with deep snow and ice cold temperatures. Most people are complaining, but I think it's about time we had some snow. I think it's important for the trees, the animals, and the ground to have a good freeze, the way nature intended it for this part of the world.

The morning walk was impossible today; we turned back towards home after only a few steps.

Cabin fever set in. The dogs were restless. Thankfully Rafael and I had a lot to babble, smile, and laugh about. By the end of the day, though, we got pretty grumpy, too. We are so used to our walks in the fresh air every morning.

One helpful thing I have learned as a new Mommy is, hard days always end, and you always have a fresh start tomorrow.

  1. well, you sure had an adorable crew to be snowed in with! We're still waiting for our winter. in fact, I have some wayward bulbs that are starting to sprout up. They think spring is here! I enjoy seeing a little bit of winter here on your blog, I think the season of rest is important too!~

  4. I agree winter is supposed to by snow-flaked and frosty! Over the weekend we had about 4-5" of snow, most of it has melted now but there is still the metallic tang of ice in the air. Hope you are all keeping warm and that you are not house-bound too long!

  5. Oh don't I know that!
I can relate to the cabin fever. We are luckily getting some warmer weather these days(it was -6 today) and so I make sure to take Noah outside for a walk or to practice with his hockey stick and puck, just so that he gets some exercise and fresh air. Hope it warms up just a bit there so that you can get back to your daily walks. xoxo
are those the booties I sent for Raffi? xoxo

  7. Yes, the booties on the right are the ones you sent from Canada! They are still a little big, as are the sheepskin ones which another family friend gave him. But he'll need them in Spring anyways.
I'm turning 31 on Friday! Wow! Time is flying.
